Mare supplements?

Our mare is really difficult when she is in season - she doesn't want anything to do with people, she gets really spooky, and she is so obsessed with the other horses it's almost impossible to work with her. The mood change only lasts about 2-3 days during which we generally just give her a little extra time off. After that she is back to being her mellow sweet self. Although inconvenient (we have had to cancel riding lessons because of it), it hasn't been too big of an issue but I'm thinking ahead to this summer when my daughter wants to enter a couple of 4-h shows. If Lily is in season for a show I don't feel that she is safe for my 8-year old to ride. I suppose we could just cancel the show at the last minute, but with all of the work and prep that goes into getting ready for a show I really don't want to pull the plug at the last minute due to Lily's "PMS".

I was thinking about trying Mare Magic or Moody Mare to see how it works and was wondering if anyone has had experience with it.

Any opinions?

I know a couple of people who have used moody mare, and have been happy with it. I know someone who is very knowledgeable about horse supplements, grains, ect., and I have her helping me with my mare right now. I will ask her tomorrow what she thinks of them, and what other recommendations she may have.
I used a marble in my endurance horse. I did not want to risk any issues with chemicals. For her, the marble worked very well.
Thanks for the replies. I bought some Mare Magic yesterday. It was not terribly expensive and the gal at the feed store said she has customers that swear by it so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'll post back in a few weeks to let you know if it has had any effect.
Not sure what your showing but some of those supplements have ingredients that will show up on drug tests. Just an FYI.
Thanks for the heads up. I was reading labels and chose M.M. because it only contains raspberry leaves, which I'm guessing is considered an all natural substance.?
I believe Devils Claw shows up on drug tests and it also is an all natural substance, so I'm not sure how much that matters. There's quite a few other natural substances that show up on drug tests too (I can think of a coat supplement too). I don't know really anything about the showing world, but I would check with your association to see whats allowed or possibly make a post on here?
