Last night I lost my beautiful baby Newt. It was a horrible, freak accident. It all happened so fast and I’m still replaying the night in my head, trying to process it all. I never imagined my little 2 year old pony would be my first experience losing a horse. Let alone in such a horrible way.
Thankfully we were there for him the entire time. We held him for an hour in the pouring rain until the vet arrived and we let him go. He had everyone that loved him around him, as well as family friends who came to help.
While he was mine and I loved him dearly, my sister was also very attached to him. We have his tail and I would like to find something special to do with it for the both of us. Does anyone know of unique things I could possibly get made? Or business that would do it.
Here are some pictures of my beautiful little boy. He was always such a spitfire 💙

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I had a keychain made from my mare's mane hair (who I also lost in a tragic accident at only 10 years old). A friend of mine also made bracelets from her tail hair. There are many options on Etsy to get this done.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy. I lost a horse due to Collic. It was terrible. I would also recommend getting a hair angel - there is a company that will make hair angels out of your horses hair 🥰

How tragic...please accept my condolences.
My 29-year-old mare is still with me, but I have an object that will ensure part of her will always be with me.
It’s called “horsehair raku” pottery; mane or tail hair from a horse is part of the firing process. It creates a beautiful streaky black-on-white finish. My sister’s friend was taking a course in it, and in exchange for some of my mare’s tail hair, she gifted me with a beautiful vase she made.
If you have an art school near you, perhaps a student could make you one.

I'm not sure of company's, but I've seen bracelets, and key chains with mane or tail. I have also seen someone who had a figure horse, that looked like the horse they had lost, and its mane and tail was made from the actual tail of the horse.

So sorry for the loss of such a young horse, tragic, hugs for you. Many beautiful designs and items can be created out of the tail hair you saved. Bracelets, pendants and pulls/Keychain are the most popular in my business. I am in Canada, but I am sure any of your horsey friends can point you in the direction of someone who does similar designs. I wear my lost horse and daughter's lost horse's beautiful jewelry everyday, they are always on my skin. I will post some pictures of what you can have made. Some these are my own original designs but I think anyone who creates with horsehair can make items like these.

I've seen plenty of suggestions with regards to mane and tail hair, so I say that's pretty well covered.

But perhaps you should consider commissioning a local artist to paint a portrait of Newt. You seem to have several lovely photos of him and any halfway decent artist could work off of any one of those and make something truly special that you could hang up to always have something to remember him by. Food for though.

Also, I am sorry to hear that you lost him so long. He was quite the cutie and I'm sure he had character to spare!
