My horse loves a single jointed snaffle, and he loves myler bits. He is either resistant to or confused by anything else. French links make him fling his head around, and steel mullen mouth bits don't offer clear enough signals for direct reining. If you pull on one rein with an unjointed bit, sometimes he stops dead.

So to make a long story short, I want a fulmer snaffle. However, the only fulmers I can find are either French link, or single jointed with a really straight mouthpiece. Could I, theoretically, buy a fulmer maybe a half inch bigger than he'd normally wear, and ask my blacksmith to put a bend in the mouthpiece reminiscent of a single jointed myler? As long as the bit isn't cheapie chrome plated, it should be fine, right?
