In Tucson right now, an 80 lb sack of alfalfa-bermuda mix pellets runs $18.50+. Last week, 80 lb bales of bermuda hay ran me $18. Its been that way for most of the last 2 years. IIRC, it hit $20/bale last winter. Never dropped much during the summer because of gas prices and the drought in the midwest.

A few years ago, it ran around $10-12/bale. You can get better prices if you buy by the semi-load, but not by much. Not unless you know someone farming hay locally.

are u talking about square bales for 18? out here in Virginia we pay 4 bucks for orchard mix and at the most 13 for the nice stuff

I'm talking about a bale that weighs 80-90 pounds.

True, thats not a bad price, do u have a specific hay source? or do u just get whats availible when its availible?

I don't have a storage shed, so I get what is available every few weeks.

To be honest (Tucson, here), my barn makes annual/biannual trips to California to get good hay. I know a few people who do that here.
