I have a nasty MRSA infection on my face and neck. Doctor thinks it is from the barn. I thought it would be more likely to get from another individual, or a place with a lot of people like my work?

I have chronic hives (thanks to my job, I am allergic to one of the chemicals we use, I am job searching right now but I do not want to leave my current position until I find another job that pays as well, and that's hard to do!) and a couple days ago the itching got more intense and turned into burning pain. The hives do get open and oozy and it gave the MRSA an entrance point. I probably spread it by scratching in my sleep.

Have you ever heard of getting it from the barn? It is winter so I am mostly covered head to toe while at the barn, except for face and neck, but same goes for job...

The two biggest lesions are on my right cheek:

and then there are smaller ones under my lower lip, on the left cheek, and under my chin/upper neck. I'm on both oral antibiotics and an antibiotic cream, so hopefully it will heal soon. I had to miss two days of work due to being extremely contagious :-(

MRSA is everywhere. Many people are even carriers and carry the germ in their nose. You are just as likely to get it at the barn as the mall, as far as I know. It is a nasty infection-take your antibiotics like it is your job-until they are gone! You do not want it coming back.

My sister just went through dealing with MRSA. Her hubby is an orthopedist and is in and out of hospitals daily. She had to do some major antibiotics and he is now doing the bactriban nasal spray.

Like franknbeans said, many people are carriers and it's everywhere.
