I got this mare who is three years old as a project horse. She virtually had never been handled. She has come along way in the few months I have had her. She was recently treated for sand colic and I was told to put her on Sand Clear. My horse eats her grain and hay and that's it. She does not like apples or carrots!! So I figured and additive to feed wouldn't be too bad. I put one scoop of the Sand Clear in and she won't eat it!! She dumped all her feed and walked off! Is there anything I can add to the feed to help her out! I don't want another vet bill for such a preventable thing!

Rather than dumping a whole scoop in at once, gradually introduce the additive feed by feed, so start with a sprinkle and gradually build up the amount you add until youre feeding the recomended amount.

Will she eat molasses? If she does, mis the additive in with some bran, put that into some hard feed and then put molasses into it too. Usually that'll get them eating it.
haha don't worry, i totally understand about fussy eaters. My old horse would only eat lucerne and one type of hard feed. WOuldn't touch apples or carrots. Although she did have an odd liking of sour cream and chives flavoured chips :S

I gave my gelding his in some er... slop. He loves the shredded alfalfa watered down so I made him up a batch and mixed it in. It turned a little jello-ish but he loved it.
