So I bought my horse two years ago, and the people we bought him from claimed he was a National Show Horse(half arab, half saddlebred). We have two other NSH's but we have come to realize this horse we bought is much different than the other two we have. He is gaited, and he is very spirited at times, but it seems to me that he might not be what they say he is, just because he is so much more different than the other two. He is not papered, because that isn't really that important to us, as we are just using them for pleasure riding, but I am just curious to what your opinions might be on the possible breed he might be?

You have to remember that no horse is alike, esp. personality wise.

body-wise.
he is much more round and stocky, compared to my other NSH's that are very broad backed but narrow..even his feet are different. However, I don't think he looks anything like a quarter horse.

From the picture you put up, he definately looks like he has the typical Arabian ears, and thinner head. Not all Arabians are tall and willowy. I have a 4 year old papered Arab, and she's a 14.2 hand stocky girl. She has a very round barrel, round butt, and big chest. She happens to be bred from more of the sport horse type lines than the tall saddle seat type lines. He's very cute though. Love his coloring. As for his gaiting, Saddlebreds as well as a lot of Arabians these days are bred to gait so that could be what you are experiencing is a natural tendency to gait, because he may have been bred from lines that were good for saddle seat. Could you post some more pictures of him, I would like to see more of him.

He looks too stocky to me, too. Do you know what gait he's doing?

Maybe he's a Missouri Fox Trotter... A lot of them are stocky, like Quarter Horses, but they have pretty little Arab-like heads.

I agree with CloudsMystique. I've seen several Missouri Fox Trotters that look a lot like your horse.
