Ok so me and my friend used to ride hunter/jumpers but now we ride dressage. I had been absent from riding lessons for a whole month because I had school stuff going on and there was no way I was able to get there. Apparently over that month my friend convinced my instructer that she was this amazing and confident jumper, that would be a negative. Our instructer had just gotten a pony with the potential to do mini horse trials and I had told her I was very much interested in doing some mini events next summer. So.....I come back to the barn after a month and our instructer was telling another girls parent how my friend was going to ride the new pony in a mini event next summer. My mouth nearly dropped to the ground. First of all, the only reason my friend wants to do it is because I am. Secondly, when we took hunter lessons she wasn't confident to fences at all (even little crossrails). Our dressage instructer hasn't seen us jump she has just gone on what I have told her about my own jumping. Now my friend has completely convinced her that she is this amazing jumper and is going to do the mini events to. Not trying to be snobby but I was quite a bit better at jumping because I had basically no fears. Now she,my friend, is gonna go galloping across a cross country course and do a show jumping course. I'll believe it when I see it. Hopefully our instructer will come to her senses when my friend starts jumping with her. I hate to talk about her like this but I just don't want her to get hurt. Cross Country jumps don't fall down! Sorry for anyone who had to read all that I just needed to vent. It feels good to get it all off my chest.

Well that sucks lol x ... If she really is that un confident then it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I think it sounds like a bit of jelousy and immaturity on her part, taking something just because you wanted it :/ I have a friend younger than me who is a good rider but only riden a year ish while I have riden years. She was on our yard owners arab and got chucked ... Yard owner nor I was angry much but I ride arabs now and you can see said friend is still a tad embarrassed ! x Don't worry once your Instructor sees she will probably allow you to instead :) x

If she's not good a good jumper time will tell the truth. Even the best riders periodically make mistakes and come off. Even the best riders occasionally get hurt. Riders who are in over their heads get hurt more often.

I'm really, really surprised ANYONE would agree to let a rider compete on their horse at that level without watching them perform first.

Thanks guys for your input. IU agree that she is just being a tad immature and just doing this to take me away from what I want to do. It's just frustrating ya know?
