Hi All!
My name is Sharon and I'm from Ohio. My mother and I maintain a small horse farm and take in horses that no one else wants. We currently have horses with various physical problems-- blindness, bad legs, old injuries, and some that are just too old to be useful anymore. We let them live out their lives in cushy retirement.
We also have our own riding horses and enjoy trail riding more than anything.
In addition to my horses, I'm a stay at home mom of two young children, ages 4 and 22 months. They keep me hopping! My son loves to help me at the barn and he begs every night to be able to go with me and help take care of the horses. My daughter is still a tad too young, so she stays at home with Daddy. She loves horses, though, so I'm sure she'll be coming along with me in no time.
I also make and sell horsehair jewelry. My horses have been generous donors of tail hair, but no, none are bald!
Many of my customers have sent me hair from their horses (some of whom have passed on) and I love being able to give them a piece of their horse that they can have with them wherever they go. I also like making jewelry because working with the horsehair allows me to be around horses, even when I can't be in the barn.
In addition to my jewelry making, I also enjoy photography, hiking, and collecting model horses.
I'm looking foward to reading and particpating in this forum!
