Hi everyone. I bought a used saddle that has a strange problem. There is this yellow powder coming out as I ride. It's an older saddle. There is not much padding left to the seat, so maybe it's that deteriorating and coming out? It's getting worse every time I ride. Anyone know what this is? Go easy on me, I'm a noob

That's old foam - you get similar when English saddle knee pads degrade.

Looks like the seat foam has collapsed. I'm not that familiar with Western saddles so I've no idea of the practicalities or costs of having it re-foamed :(

Yeah, seat foam rubber deterioration (like dry rot). Your looking at about 100.oo dollars (give or take a little depedning on how much seat and attatchments that will need to be removed for replacement of the padding) to repair.

x3 foam rot. I've seen it happen with automotive foams that have been exposed to hot conditions for years. Chances are the saddle was stored somewhere where it got extremely hot, and left stored there for many years.
