at the moment i am an english rider but trying to break in my new western saddle for trails. along with this i like to go to the barn and just relax. the barn i ride and board at is 30 min away and i cant get there very many times during the week and this totally sux!!!! i am trying to ride in both my english and western saddle and go to the barn just to chill and it is close to impossible! since the barn is so far away and my parents and sister dont have much time to take me im not getting to go down anywhere near as much as i want to. i was hoping my summer would b spent mostly at the barn and it doesnt look like thats going to happen. any ideas? PLZ HLP! thx in advance! :)

My barn is a 45 minute drive so i kinnda know how you feel (other then I drive myself)... You need to decide between riding time and chill time (yes it sucks but what do you value more???). Is there any way you and the people you hang out with could all go for a trail ride at the same time? That way you can still hangout and talk along with getting you riding time in. Is there anyone else that lives near you that also boards in the same barn... maybe try to carpool.

Is there anyway that you could move your horse to somewhere nearer to were you live? maybe bike ride there? i used to hate not getting to the yard but now i drive i get there as much as i can, but i still find it hard as i have a daughter who is 1 in 2 weeks so if i cant get a sitter for her if im planing on ridding then i have to miss out, its good when my family are up there too as there are more of us to watch my little girl and thank god shes like her mummy and loves the horses :D

True that.

My barn is 45 minutes away and, sadly, I am still without my license. Horses are more of a priority. =) I only get there once a week. Best thing I could tell you is, 1) find a friend who'd give you a lift, 2) see if another boarder would be willing to give you rides, even if they don't live close (you pay gas?), 3) move to another barn that's closer.
