As some of you might know, Nutri-Cal is a gel you give to underweight animals to help them gain weight fast. Well, my ferret had some medical issues that were ignored by his previous owner and unnoticed by me because I never saw him not sick. Anyways, I mix his enzyme meds into Nutri-Cal and all of a sudden my vet dropped the brand of Nutri-Cal and switched to one he swears is the exact same. I don't agree with him because the new stuff is sticky and not think. The one I use to use was by Evsco and it came in a blue package saying Nutri-Cal. Now the one that the vet has(that I don't like) is in a white package and it has a picture of a cat or dog or both (depending on the animal its for) it is made by Tomlyn. Does anyone think they are different? Am I just going crazy?

Look it up online. Both brands probably have a website. I would look for someone else who carries it. Some animals are picky when it comes to a food change.

I looked it up and the brand that is a copy of the other and is less liked by my ferret and I said they were the same but they had a different flavor. I understand how that would make him not like it as much but how does that change the stickiness?

its probably a knock off. the nutrical probably is TM so the formula isnt exactly the same.

Thats what I think but the vet, company, and my mom all swear everything is the same. Just one is retail and one is sold exclusively through vets. I don't think they are the same. Luckily we found a vet that sells the one we like so I am picking up a bunch today just in case they decide to change to the knock off as well.

Stay with the one that is benifiting your ferret the most. Also try Ferret-tone, a sweet syrupy liquid that they love. Use on food and med's or just as a treat. Good luck and hope your little one gets better soon.

Uh, you can get nutri cal outside of a vet's office...I used to get it at the grooming shop I worked at. I would just look around at pet specialty stores, or order it online...

I would be careful in how much you purchase at one time, as they do 'get old' fairly quickly, and it is best to keep update material.

^ the nutri-cal from the grooming/pet store here is different from the vet and my ferret won't eat it. Not to worry though, the vet is going to continue to carry the one Whitee(ferret) likes.
