So I ride a Canadian horse 14hh mare. She has a mind of her own but when she is bing good you would think its a different with this horse has gone her form act like a tank one minute to bing the on the bit and looking like a 100000000 bucks the another.The one thing I found odd was her canter when she canter it's not a flowing round canter it's more of a jerk forward but it's the most smooth thing I have ever ridden and the first time I canter her I thought she was still tort. All her gait are smooth but the feeling of this canter is so odd I had to ask.
Why is her canter like that?

Ps I did canter and jump her the first time I rode her because I was riding with a showing lesson as their was a show that weekend and the horse I normal rode had a bad fall with a different rider . I didn't show because of that.

If it help I ride in a dressage saddle and as of now a halter because she cut the inside of her lip and most likely still ride her in that after it heal because she work so much better in it.

Is it just the way she canter? Or could it have something to do with training?

Some horses jump into the canter, is that what you mean? Or is every stride a "jump"? She may just be stiff, or could be on the wrong lead/cross cantering.There is no way we can help you by your description, can you get us a video? It would really help to see what she is doing.

Every stride a jump but she is on the right lead and not sure it could be cross cantering. The one thing I know is she is out of shape so that could be something but I have talk to the rider who rode her before me and she said that her canter was like that when she rode her as well. I don't ride for another 2week so I can't get video until then and not sure if we'll be cantering as it's 25- right now so most likely only walk and a bit of tort

Sometimes it's just the way they more, or she is just stiff or maybe sore. Just get a video when you can so we can give you a better answer.

I have also seen her canter with a rider and it does look even different for the horse I rode before but I did feel the different when riding her at that gait

I would get a vet to check her out. I could be an underlying problem and it's better to be safe than sorry!! however some horses have that kind of canter, especially if they were hobbled.. Hopefully you find out!

I would definitely post a video, as it's hard to accurately picture what you're describing.

That aside, it does sound like it could be a pain issue. From the post I am under the impression that she is a school horse? Or is she yours? Do you know what the last time a vet or chiropractor has been out to see her?

She is not mine but I am the only one that ride her as she I am train to be a school horse. Not sure the last time she has seen a vet and I don't think she has ever had a chiropractor come and seen her. Is their something that I could do to help???
