Hey everyone! I have never seen such a thing so I am posting to see if anyone else has!! I have a new horse that arrived about a week ago, she's settling in well but had some diarrhea due to stress and change of feed, vet said it was nothing to be concerned about and now her poop has started to improve to nice round balls again! Not sure if related but you should know all the details!

Anywho, I was in the pasture today and noticed a manure pile full of BRIGHT orange spots! I inspected closer and the bottom of the manure pile looked hair like white/orange (ill add pictures) The piles are older maybe about 48 hours or more older as the manure has started to dry and all that. It has also been very wet and humid here, lots of rain this year. Is this a type of mold? Or something from my new horse? Should I be concerned and calling the vet or nothing to be concerned about?

I don't know if it's a type of mold but it is some kind of fungus growing. It's from an outside influence not from something in your horse's gut so no need to worry about it.

Yes, I see this sometimes.

Only horse people are so utterly fixated on manure. I speak from experience. <img style="max-width:100%;" src="http://www.horseforum.com/images/smilies/rofl.gif" border="0" alt="" title="ROFL" class="inlineimg" />
Thanks guys!! It must be from the wet humid weather this year! And its so true us horse people are quite funny with the amount we pay attention to poop LOL. But it can tell you alot about the health of them!! Haha
