Please do not critique the rider (me). I just want full opinions on the pony. - He is Arab/QP; 10 years old. 13.2 hands, green under-saddle.

I do own him;; and we are training for the hunter ring, I want to know how a judge would look at him, and if I should work on anything in particular. I know I'm forward, and holding his neck.. and my heels probably need to be down.. but anyways.. tell me what you think of him.

Okay, if you're training for the hunter ring, you definitely need to pull his mane. He's actually going too fast, it looks like he's galloping instead of cantering! Slow him down a bit.

Work on him pulling you down on downward transitions - as soon as you hit the walk, he dragged you down with his head. Very bad, a judge will NOT like that!

Agree completely with 420.

For the hunter ring, you want a bright, forward trot (asking for a little lengthening down the long side is a good thing) and a slow, balanced canter that's clearly three beat. This should be on a very light contact and without visible aids.

Oh man, I forgot that he pulls his head down on the end of that. That particular video was from our first canter..

He goes on clicking cues, no leg needed. Thanks for the advice!

I agree with the above posters that he does almost look like he's galloping. He has a nice big step, which is good for the hunters, especially as he's a pony. Ideally, I would try to cut his speed almost in half, while still maintaining that nice big stride.

I would pull his mane, for sure too.
