If you look at Moonshine's white line, about half an inch from my finger, it's pink. Is this a bruise? If so, what might have caused it? Or is it something else?

Sorry the picture isn't too great -- we tried in various light but it was hard to capture on film.

Yes, if it's just in one small area of the white line like that it's usually a bruise. For example, she could have knocked the front of her hoof hard against a log or something and bruised it higher up, and then it grew down with the hoof wall. I've actually observed on a white hoof where a horse banged her hoof hard, I saw the bruise show up and could see it through the outside of the hoof wall, and watched it grow all the way down the hoof until it was visible in the white line at the bottom as it grew out.

OK great, thank you. I was concerned I had somehow caused it with my trimming. She does bonk her feet on ground poles occasionally (she used to do it all the time), so maybe that's it.
