So, my previous horse Murphy coliced last night. Murphy is a beautiful 15.3 hh bright bay mare with a cute thin blaze. Great dressage horse and hunter extraordinaire. I sold her to one of my friends 3 years ago as she does not like eventing. My friend is in love with her.

Last night, she started showing signs of colic so they immediately called the vet. The vet gave her a dose of Banamine and called it good. After that, Murphy was up and looked interested and alert. Then, she went down again. The vet decided that the colic was in her small intestine and she should be taken to the biggest vet hospital in the state, Kansas State Vet Hospital in Manhattan.

Haven't heard any updates since then but her owner is not at work so she's probably still at the vet hospital.

I am SO attached to this horse. This is probably one of my favorite horses I have ever owned in my entire life.

Please send good thoughts to Murphy! Maybe we can pull her through this.

Oh my gosh, how stressful, worrysome and emotional. :(

I am so sorry - I will pray that Murphy will make it through this whole situation! How old is Murphy? Was the prognosis sugery?

Thanks MIEventer.

I will post as soon as I have updates but as of now, i do not know her prognosis or if she requires surgery.

she was born in 1996 so... 14 years old.

here are pics of my old girl, she's the first on the page. And yeah, that's me riding her.

Awww, look at you in pink! LOVE IT!

She is beautiful, and I will keep sending good vibes her way and keep my fingers crossed!

This is a very hard thing go through though, I wish her owner all the strength as well.

Thank you guys for the support. Unfortunately, Murphy has worsened to the point where surgery is no longer a good option. She will be put down shortly. I will post later after I stop crying

Does anyone know of a good horsehair bracelet maker? Her current owner would like to get one made...

Thank you HP. That means alot.

I am going to be such a robot today in school. All of my energy and emotion was spent yesterday. I'm taking a test on Existentialism... how appropriate! I can do that test well...

I'm going to post something about her in the memorial section once I can gather up enough pics.

Oh my gosh, I am in tears! I am so sorry for Murphy's loss...how horrible. I am at a loss for words, being so close to losing Nelson, my heart goes out to those who loved her.

For a memorial - you could get her tail, have it washed and secure the top with a lovely ribbon. Then get a shaddow box and place it inside, with a plaque or a name plate with engraving on it.

My heart is very sad :(
