Hey guys its me!!!

I might be getting a horse, I dont know yet, My Companion Animal Science Teacher is looking to give away her BLM mustang, She is either 4 years old or my teacher has had her for 4 years and has been ridden but needs lots of ground work because my teacher has not been able to do anything with her because of her health the past year. She is cute, not my DREAM color but she is white with a jet black head, black mane and tail, black legs and a black dorsel stripe. The barn owner I am sure would give me a discount (she is giving one to my friend because we both work there) I need to talk to her. I am currently earning around 250-300 a month at the grocery store. I have been riding for 4 years and I trained Microburst myself. (baka, he is in the image gallery.) What do you guys think, the only problem I can think of is farrier ( i dont know if the horse is bare foot or not....and Then whenever She would colic or get sick I would have to call the vet and pay those bills too.) I could probably babysit for our farrier in order to get her feet done..(Done that before.) and I know that its around 25-30$ to pay for bare feet (I would at least start putting her on bare feet to lower the price (she is mustang and the mustangs that I know are bare foot).

What do you guys think? Do you think I am ready for my first horse?

Really quick, if ya give me a picture of the Mustang's tattoo/brand, i can tell ya how old she is, and her serial number ^^

Not all mustangs go barefoot, it all depends on how strong her feet are, and how well built she is =) If she can go barefoot, then definately dont shoe her! lol!

I would definately recommend setting up a nest egg of about 400 dollars. This should cover any quick unforeseen vet visits or injuries before you get her, and of course, as ya said, talk to the owner of the barn and see if you can get a discount :)

What will happen to Baka once you get this horse though? Would you have time to work with him still?

She sounds beautiful, i'd love to see a picture <3

Baka is not my horse, they were planning on selling him in the spring too... So I figure its best if I find another horse, as there other horses are lesson horses and constantly in lessons. They also have a TB that I get on only when I can get The barn owners husband to help me out because he bucks and carries on ( I choose not to ride him w/ out someone there.). They also are planning on buying another horse but he will also be a lesson horse so i dont know what I plan on doing.

Alright I am going to be going and looking at the mustang next week sometime...

I also just found out that one of the people at our barn has to get rid of there cute little paint horse Jasmine. If she is not to much I might think about getting her.
