After my last show, getting not much of a decent score for dressage, I started this thread: http://www.horseforum.com/horse-riding-critique/fair-53094/

Most of the advice I recived was about getting my horse (Rocky) a lot more forward and pushing him into the bit instead of riding "by the head." Also, I knew I had to keep his contact more steady, and keep his head from swaying.

All the advice was very helpful, although some of it seemed a little more on the criticism side. Anyway, I used the advice, and today when I was riding, I worked on all of this stuff. I really felt like I was pushing him forward into the bit, using my leg and seat aids.

I had a friend trot on the same 20m circle with me for about 5-10 minutes and we watched each other and told each other what we were doing wrong. I asked her whether Rocky looked more forward and taking larger strides, and she told me that he was, and looked better than before I was moving him forward from behind.

I also held my hands higher, up in front of me, and that caused me to stop seesawing, so I noticed his head was A LOT more steady!

Thank you so much to everyone who took time to look at the video and give me replies in that thread. I realize now what I'll have to work on during a dressage test, and with a little work, I'm sure my horse will get a lot better. :)

I'm so proud of you and your accomplishments! Good for you, and be proud of yourself for taking what you could and applied it to your riding!

*claps* Bravo!
