Hey ya'll I'm purchasing my first western saddle after years of English riding. So I would like your opinion of this saddle? My friend is selling it and since it's rather easy to get I'm going to go ahead and try it on my TB to see if it fits correctly and go from there. What y'all think the price of this saddle may be? I do not know the brand of it as of now. But thanks for your opinions. I could get it for 300 or even maybe a little cheaper. Is that a good price???

Knowing the brand and age would help. From the photo it looks to be in fairly good shape.
Is the front rigging double or is there just the one ring? Having a couple of options there is good, in my opinion. But if it fits you and the horse, I'd say 300 or under is not bad.

If it doesn't have a brand name of reasonable quality and I can't put my hands on the leather, then I wouldn't buy it. Definitely not for $300. However, there are a few good no-names out there, so if you're able to tell good leather then you may end up with a nice saddle!

If it does have a brand name, that'll help a lot in determining its value. The picture isn't really good enough to give much information, but it doesn't look like it's in bad condition. Ask about the brand, then run a google search for saddles of that brand, or post and ask the western experts on here :D If no brand, my initial guess is definitely not worth $300 unless you are good at telling quality from crud when you see it.

based on appearances and the lack of a brand name, I'd say that 300 is a fair price. it looks like a decent show saddle. measure the seat size to see if it will fit YOU.
