Does anyone use them for trail riding? What are the pros and cons? And what type do you use?
Easyboot, Natural hoof shoe, Boa horse boot, Old mac's G2, Cavallo simple boot???
Thanks!

A friend of mine uses the Cavallo boots and she really likes them. She has not used them on trail, though, just flat work.

Easyboot. Bares, Epics, Edges. Tried all on both of my horses. With Jemma went thru sand/mud/water/rocks and even after 6 months my Bares were in great shape.

Cavallo didn't work for me - I wasn't able to tight the upper part. Old Macs are too bulky and hard to put on IMO. Heard nice things about Boas and Renegades but never tried those.

I've used the Easyboot Epics, Bares, and Gloves - we sell all the boots incl. Boas, Cavallo, Old Macs, etc at the store I work at, we actually ship boots all over western Canada.

We get the most positive Feedback from the Gloves, but it depends on your trim too - if you follow the natural hoof trimming ideas, and trim regularly, the Gloves will never let you down, they are lightweight, close fitting, and no irritating buckles.

Epics or Boas are good if you don't have a consistant hoof shape, they do work well for flatter riding, but I find in the really hilly/rocky/shale areas around here they aren't as good as the bares or gloves for grip.

Good luck!!

Ive tried Old Mac G2's, Deltas (new cavallo's) and now the Easyboot Edges.

My favourite out of them is definately the Edge, I've gone off boots coming above the coronet so really like the design of easyboots.

Favourite boot over-all is the easyboot Glove, but this won't fit my horse yet so have to wait a while.

have a look here EasyCare Inc. | The Leader in Hoof Boots and Natural Hoof Care for all the info you need about hoof boots :)

Thanks everyone!
Looks like the easyboot is still the way to go!
I have used them in the past and thought I would ask around about the others boots before purchasing another pair for my new horse!
Thanks again!
