Rawhide v.s. Leather saddle horn

Hi, I’m looking to buy a corriente strip down saddle and noticed all of them have leather horns I am planning on using this saddle mostly for practice some speed events like breakaway and barrels. I would also like to do some team roping in the saddle. In the past I have only had rawhide horns and loved them. Is there a reason for the leather horn? What horn do y’all think would be best on a strip down saddle?

All my western saddles have leather wrapped horns. I wrap mine with mule hide for dally roping. And I'm not above wrapping with rubber over the mule hide for branding.

Ooops. I forgot. I recently picked up a saddle with braided rawhide on the horn. I've used it on outside horses.
