My horse is recovering from ulcers (done with gastrogard and finishing the ulcergard, they are gone now) and my vet, as well as other people, have recommended using a stomach buffer/prebiotic as a regular daily supplement because he has a sensitive stomach. I was wondering if anybody knew any good brands that actually work before I go off and buy one on my own, although already I have heard of the SmartPak prebiotics.

If your talking about what I think your possibly talking about......then I would suggest Probios. It contains live organisms which help in the breakdown of the horses food, allowing your horse to digest its food better, also allowing for needed nutriets to absorb.

A prebiotic doesn't contain beneficial bacteria but provides an environment that is conducive for their growth - it essentially feeds the beneficial bacteria present in your horse's gut. PRObiotics contain live organisms (beneficial bacteria) - PREbiotics "feed" the PRObiotics. You can put all the beneficial bacteria you want into your horse's gut, but if the environment isn't conducive for their growth, they won't grow no matter how much "seed/probiotics" you use. It's a bit like seeding the desert - if you don't have the right conditions/environment necessary for growth, nothing will grow no matter how much seed you use. My recommendation is Ration Plus.

Look for a product called EQUINE CHOICE.
I use this and Fastrack....and I find great results with both products.

:)My Vet gave my horse NUTRIENT BUFFER - it comes in a gallon container - I give Skip 35cc each evening before feeding (it's a thick stomach buffer). That has worked beautifully for him!
I also use a Probiotic once a day in his feed.
