How do you ride steep (like, 45 + degrees) hills bareback? I'm not that great of a rider and tend to slide forward (going downhill) or slide back (going uphill). I've tried the whole "use your abs, stay over the center of gravity" thing and it works somewhat going downhill but not uphill. I need to hold on to my horse's mane when going uphill. :/ Zig-zag up and down the hill, I guess?

I don't find it an issue generally, and uphill, taking a good handful of mane helps. But I have one horse currently, a STB who's shoulders just never developed, who doesn't have much of a wither, so it seems there is nothing in front for my thighs to grip when going down a steep hill! If I'm truly bareback, I generally get off her for steep downhills, tho with a padded bareback pad, that gives me enough 'thigh block' to stay in place!

If you have a well groomed horse, you’re gonna slip no matter how well your seat is or how strong your legs and core are. I love to ride bareback and bought a slip resistant pad. Bonus - it has a water bottle holder, loop on the front to grip, and its machine washable (though I air dry).

Fanatic. I’ve now met every living Doctor and got to meet John Hurt before he passed. And I’m American. Bless working for a company with offices both here and in the UK.

^my kids would be jealous, esp of David, Matt & Jodie... and one is particularly impressed in Tom Baker - who was the doctor for the majority of time I watched it as a kid.

I loved the way they 'advertised' that it was coming back, when the 'new' one started with Christopher Eccleston - didn't say what it was, when it was on or anything. No title, not even a picture if I remember, just the sound... Da da da dump. Da da da dump. Da da da dump. Then 'COMING SOON!' obviously aimed at the die hards!
