Hello,

I grew up riding quarter horses, but I bought a Rocky Mountain Pleasure Horse a few years ago. When I bought her, she gaited nicely, but lately she has fallen into pacing.

The background is, I don't get to ride often anymore (once a month :-( ), I've never had a lesson but I've been riding my whole life (so I have done trial-and-error for years but I don't REALLY know what to do), I probably have the wrong saddle (I don't even know what kind it is, it was given to me when I was 12 by a neighbor), her hooves are a little long.

Does anybody have any advice on what I can do to get her out of a pace and back into her gait..? The only thing I know how to do is stop/start again, which of course frustrates her, and doesn't work. She doesn't understand why I keep asking her to start and stop and things just sort of get worse from there.

She is currently with me at home this week so I can ride everyday, so I was hoping to get some pointers.
