Our local rodeos are on. Many of them were last year. A large regional rodeo is back after a year off, though. I go to it.

I've never gone to Cheyenne. It's too crowded. Which is weird, because I do like the Tri-State fair in Rapid and the National Western in Denver.

Just looked up the Calgary Stampede and it's scheduled for July 9 thru the 18th..........this year, 2021.

That is Alberta, different province. Our big one, Cloverdale Rodeo is canceled.

Update Here: In mid-July, rented a car and drove down to Colorado Springs for the Pro-Rodeo Hall of Fame Induction. Stayed at the same hotel that former World Champion Bull Rider, and now, PRCA Judge, Butch Kirby stayed. Pam Minick, former (1973) Miss Rodeo America, and her husband were there as well as was Hall of Fame Inductee Ellensburg Rodeo Committee. Nice time at the Induction. Met Miss Rodeo America Jordan Tierney. And, btw, nobody was wearing masks at all, not even at BJ's Brewery & Sports Bar, where we ate supper.

Two weeks later, we rented another car and took an 8-hour drive to Dodge City, Kansas. We had never been to Dodge and I'm a big fan of Gunsmoke. The Dodge City Round-Up was going on as well. Stopped by their casino, went thru the Boot Hill Museum and even paid for a dinner/show there. All very interesting! The rodeo was nice as well, with some fireworks afterwards. Going to Dodge we went by numerous Feed Lots, and a few were very large, lots and lots of corn fields and numerous farming equipment both by stores and working fields.

Next trip.......... Las Vegas for the WNFR for the first 5 days of it. Already have airline tickets, hotel room reservations @ the Mirage and a car rental reservation. This will be our final trip to Vegas, so we plan on have a "walloping good time". However, not going to the rodeo. Will watch it at the Mirage on big screens. Will go to Cowboy Channel Cowboy Christmas at the Convention Center, watch a little Team Roping at South Point Equestrian Center, head over to Sam's Town and do some gambling. Go to a few Autograph Sessions, as well.

Anyone on this forum planning on attending the WNFR? Las Vegas is going "all out" for it this year.........and, I do mean "all out".

I forgot to say, no masks at all in Dodge City either.

Some Facebook NFR fans have been rumbling about the possible requirement of wearing masks in Las Vegas, but wife and I don't care. We will have our with us, wearing them on the airlines, if required, and in the hotel/casinos if required there.

The Philippine National Finals were canceled in 2020, and 2021. It will probably not happen in 2022 either. Most small festivals that include rodeo are also on hold.

I’m afraid all of our veteran student team members will have graduated before things can safely start up again.

Yep, we have been watching a lot of rodeos on The Cowboy Channel. ROFL, especially my 3 1/2 year old rottweiler, Dolly. She LOVES IT!
Yesterday, she watched nearly the entire Pendleton Roundup. Before that it was Extreme Bulls. She LOVES it!

Three weeks from this coming Friday, we fly out for the NFR in Las Vegas, with masks in-hand or wearing (if required). Absolutely no problem if "wearing" is required in Las Vegas and no problem wearing at DIA and on airlines. We are both fully vaccinated now, including the Booster and Senior High Dose Flu Shot. Will be there for 4-days of eating, gambling and rodeo action. My SIL, from So. California, will be driving into Vegas to see us. That will be nice also.
It will be nice to be around other rodeo fans that "walk the walk and talk the talk". Our last NFR we attended there was in 2006, so we are "way beyond" ready for this one!

Most likely, this will be our last trip to Vegas, so we want to "party hardy". Funny to say that when I'm 72 and my wife is 73. Like myself, she is 100% ready for this trip.

Vegas/NFR trip: Wore our masks at DIA and definitely on the airline (Frontier). No problems with people onboard. All wearing a mask, unless eating/drinking. Wife and I were wearing our black felt hats, but only seen a couple of people wearing a cowboy hat. Sort of surprised, but then again, DIA is "Denver", Colorado's version of Los Angeles (LOL). Also surprised that Frontier served drinks/snacks. Beer, wine and mixed drinks were available to purchase. Flight was very nice, going over the Rockies and seeing snow on top of them.

Wife and I will say this for sure, "Vegas sure has changed since we were there in 2006!" We stayed at The Mirage and it was noisy! Not a place for Seniors to stay. Anything pulled out of the frig, had to be paid for. Had to use room key card to go up elevator. The Mirage's Buffet had closed, not to reopen. So, had Breakfast Buffet at: MGM, Cosmopolitan and Circus-Circus. Worst one, Circus-Circus. Best one, MGM. Cosmopolitan, just "ok". Dinner Buffet at South Point......excellent! Parking at The Mirage, Cosmo and MGM costs after 60 minutes. Wife got a MLife Card (credit), so parking at Mirage and MGM cost us nothing. Circus-Circus and South Point was free parking.

After MGM Buffet breakfast, headed over to Top 15 Tie-Down Ropers autograph session in the MGM. Only 14 were there. Tuff Cooper was a "no show".

Stopped by South Point to take a look at Ariat Championship Team Roping and their version of Cowboy Christmas. Seen the new 2022 Miss Rodeo America (Miss Colorado) in their Show Room. Later, went back there to watch the NFR on really BIG screen tv and tremendous speaker system.

Went to Cowboy Christmas at Convention Center. Stopped by to listen to Justin and Janie, "live" on the Cowboy Channel. What did we find out at Cowboy Christmas? The younger generation has taken over with the flat hats and the "look at me" clothes for young ladies. Wife and I were pretty stunned (to say the least).

So, Bottom Line is: If we do go back, will most definitely stay at South Point...........NOT on the Strip! The Cosmopolitan has 68 floors in their hotel! Stopped at the Rio, pretty much "dead"! Circus-Circus and Sam's Town the same way. Looks like ALL casinos have smoking now. YUK!! But, at South Point, seen very, very few smokers. That was very nice.

Last night there, at The Mirage, got very, very lucky on slots and, between us, won some $500.
