We got a little tiny salt block for our two rescues. We thought it would be a good idea because who knows the last time they had any salt or minerals. We got a plain white one just in case they didn't like it. Turns out they liked it and they went nuts over it. I just got done reading about it and they said it's bad for them to chew on it. I was thinking of just taking a hammer to it to loosen it up for them. They started chewing on it right away. I assume that the brown minerals are good and probably better for them so we will most likely be getting a big one of those after the salt one is gone. My mom's bf grew up working with cows and they had a yellow one that had pestisides in them to help repell flies. He only had it for cows so he isn't sure if it would work for the horse or if it would make them sick. Any thoughts on that too? I also wanted to know if clover isn't very good for horses. We run the horses in the neighbors field and set up the barrels and it has a lot of clover and they foam at the mouth. I heard that it was ok. But just don't let them eat too much. Is that true? Or can they eat as much as they want? Thank you i'm looking forward to the thoughts!
