So I figured its about time I start getting stuff down
Don't care if no one reads it, its just for me to write down my progress.
So on Tuesday (30/3/10), the ag class travelled to some trail riding place up near Coffs Harbour and we went riding. Surprisely I did ok considering I hadn't ridden since December '10 (western) and since September '09 in an english saddle. Was on a horse called Real Deal. A bit skinny for my liking, but then again most of the horses were. Not too sure of the breeding, probably had some ASH and SB in him. It was a 1 and half hour trail ride W/T/C. Only did probably 10 strides of canter cause I'm still like traumatised from my last trail ride up at Townsville. Up at Townsville, I was at the back of the trail and when we cantered, the pony galloped and threw in a few good bucks. I stayed on but suffice to say I'm not too confident on 'supposed quiet trail horses' anymore.
I'm proud of myself, I actually rode pretty well. I remember everything from my english days.
And so today (1/4/10) I had a lesson with my new instructor. He's a reiner and a dressage rider. He does a little bit of everything. This was my first real english lesson in forever, so I like to consider myself a beginner rider. I rode a pony, aptly named ' Poneh '. Nice solid little grey guy. 14.2 hands, and fitted me just right. I might have to consider a pony
Worked mainly on balance and impulsion. Mainly did W/T with a little bit of canter. Two-pointed a lot because apparently it helps my leg position, balance and also teaches me to use my pelvis and hips instead of bending my back. And at the end of the lesson, he let me run a mock barrels and pole bending with cones as the barrels and poles. Apparently, I learn quickly or I'm a natural. Shock, horror, gasp, I got complimented on my riding!
Now I guess I'm off to feed the munchkins and convince L to let me ride her ponehs
