HI, I looked for a long time for just the right western saddle. When I was "newer" to riding I bought a mare. I tried her out and she was great, then I went back and rode her with my saddle. At first I did not know what was wrong, I could not sit her canter at all. The young fella said it was my saddle, sure enough I put there's on and I was fine. I had a roper - the seat and the stirrups are not positioned well except for roping. My new saddle has the stirrups forward and the center of the seat about 5/8 back. Larry Trocha oulines this on his site. I bought a Jerry Shaw and wish I could afford another for my husband but they are pricey ( but worth)
I can't really help with saddle choice but what size english saddle do you ride? Or if you are willing to share your height and weight, it can sometimes be judged by that.
I like Corriente Saddle Company. They are good quality saddles at a really fair price. As far as seat size if you ride a 17 inch english then you will ride a 15 inch western and so on.
Thanks Everybody!I almost never use english saddle exept when I'm performing in show or for training ... When I use an english saddle it is my coach one and between him and me there is a big difference of size and weight but I feel good in his saddle (i do not know the size :$)
But I'm 1m59-60 and 57kg
Judging by your size, a 15 inch western saddle would probably be a good fit.
If I did my metric conversion right a 15 inch western saddle will be plenty big and give you some room to grow (if you are that age).
Dang Smrobs you beat me to it!
I'm 19years old I think I will not grow so much anymore
But thanks :D for the size
But which brand do you advice me I didnt find the one you give me...
what do you think about showman saddle???
Hi there! here is a small list of saddles I personally like:
Crates
Circle Y
Showman
Simco- only the older ones not newer
Blue Ribbon
Champion
Kathys
Martin
Rico
Dale Chavez
Bobs
It would really help if you gave us a price raange too, some of the saddles i posted are expensive but all of them are good-great quality!

What discipline are you looking to show in?? This will play a role in what saddle would work best.
