Hey guys, I've been trying to sell my courbette magic for a few months now. I bought it for $800 used a few months ago, used it maybe 5 times max over 3 months, and had to stop as it didn't fit her any more. I really need to get it gone because I need new saddle badly, but every offer I got ended up changing their mind. Any tips on selling it? I was asking $500, is that too high? I have it on about 5 different websites right now and no buyers.:-(

Have you tried any of the free papers. I don't know about where you live but in my area there are a few different papers that just have classified adds. It usually has a thing to send in an add for a buck or for free. The papers I think come out every month or every other week.
Craigs list if you haven't done that already.
You could also make some flyer's and put them at local barns or feed stores if they have a board to put that type of thing.

I know you said you've been trying for a few months, but this is the very worst time of year to try and sell a used saddle. People who need saddles are putting them on Christmas lists and people who are gifting saddles usually go for new.

If you haven't sold your saddle in several months of advertising, then IMO your price is too high for the condition. I've sold saddles at all different times of the year and as long as my price was right for the condition of the saddle, every one has sold - and usually within a week. I love ebay for that!

I have a saddle I can't seem to sell either. The going rate on them (used) is between $1500 and $2000 and mine is probably one of the fanciest ever made. I've put in ebay with a $1300 reserve, which I stated in my description, TWICE, managed to rack up 20-30 watchers and about 15 questions about it, but no one broke the reserve... the economy is just crap.

WOW. Have you tried starting with $1,500 or Make An Offer? That may work for you.

The last saddle I sold took 2 tries and what I did was to start high with a Buy It Now and lower my price each day. I explained that I was going to lower it until someone committed to the current price or make me a reasonable offer. Someone bought it at a higher price then the reserve was the first time. That was a month ago and the saddle went to AZ.

I can tell you that there was a saddle I wanted to bid on that was a decent price (a Buy It Now) but they wanted $150 for shipping which didn't make it a good deal. I contacted the seller and explained that shipping should only be in the $50 range. They claimed that if it came to that, they would refund the difference - not something I was willing to chance - or anyone else for that matter since it didn't sell.

I just sold a saddle using the 'buy it now or best offer' option with Ebay. I posted it at $1300 and sold it for $1200, which I was ok with. I personally think it was way undervalue (Bates Next Generation Elevation, new with tags) but I just wanted to sell it quick. Had to pay about $66 in ebay fees though.

I might try buy it now OBO option. There was TONS of interest in it and once it didn't sell for the INCREDIBLY low steal of a reserve price, I started to get ridicuous offers for it. Its a BEAUTIFUL Black Rhino barrel saddle. I wouldn't sell it for the world, but I had a baby and now my a** is too big. I hate life.
