So, a few days ago I ended up with a concussion from a horse head to the face. I was leading one of our ponies out to his field after he had been in all night (he is usually out 24/7) and wasn't paying as much attention as I should have been. I went to open the gate, not paying much attention to the pony as he's usually a very good boy, and all of a sudden he swung his head around to try to push past me and into the pasture and I took a horse head to the side of my face/nose, resulting in my current concussion! My boss thinks it's absolutely hilarious, and I'd have to agree seeing as it's only a minor concussion. Lol! So, I was just wondering if anyone here has ended up with a semi-serious injury from a funny incident. Please, tell away!

LOL that is funny!

A few years back I was watching my horses rummage through my cart I take the hay out with, I knew it was empty but I went to look.....stupid me bent down to look in and one of the horses lifted their heads and broke my front tooth half off!

This past summer I was at a poker derby ride.......I was out with about 20 other riders. We were going through a tight trail and a HUGE horse behind me tripped and his head/neck went right between my not so huge mare's hind legs! I turned to look and the other ladies face was about 2 feet from mine with her eyes big as saucers LOL my mare didn't panic which was good but gave a little jump ahead to get him out from under her which got her close enough to the horse in front of us and that horse kicked mine in the face......she spun not knowing what to do.......I slid in slow motion off the side of her where she had already stopped and was looking at me. I must have squeezed my legs so hard that I ended up with a bruise the size of a football on the inside of my one leg LOL All I can say is I'm glad my mare was calm about it all where alot of horses would have panicked!

Many years ago there was a horse with an injured hip who had gone down. To get her up again, we had to roll her over. Unfortunately, I was standing in the wrong place at the wrong time and as she went over, her foot kicked out and caught me square in the jaw. Luckily I was OK and we did get her up again. I felt bad for my husband though because people would glare at him when we were in the grocery story line together, as if he was some kind of monstrous wife beater. I told him I should get a t-shirt that said the horse did it, not the husband.

I have earned a fat lip or two (or three.....) for being in a horses face.

I was sitting on the backyard lawn, talking to my mom on the phone, barefooted with my legs stretched out in front of me. The little girl (my MIL's stunted Appy filly) I could see was off a good bit away from me grazing the front lawn. Now she had an affection for me, so it didn't take her long to start wandering over to me. I picked my legs up (still sitting on the ground) as she came closer. I didn't expect her to get to close to me, but she was within a 10 foot radius. When I wasn't paying attention, she had worked her way right up in front of me, and grabbed my attention rather frankly by gently (and I do mean very gently), placing her hoof on top of my bare foot. She just rested her hoof on my foot. Now this filly is a little girl, barely 13-13.1hh at the time, but she has that chunky racing QH build. I had the sweetest little hoof shaped bruise on the upper arch of my foot for about 2 weeks!!!

God I loved that pony girl though.

I've had a couple haha but who hasn't.

- One time I got a slight concussion by hitting my horse's head, accidently. I was bending down next to him to fix the velcro on his boot and didn't realize he had turned his head and it was hovering over me. Well, not thinking I went to straighten up really fast and WHAM slammed my head right into the underside of his. He was kind of like "Mom why'd you do that?" while I staggered away watching the little birdies fly around my head.

- Another time I was standing next to Phantom just hanging out and decided it would be fun to lean backwards on him. Yeah, awesome idea until he decided to spook at something. One second he was there the next he was gone and since I had been leaning on him my balance was off and I crashed on my butt to the ground. Cut up my elbow on the ONLY rock in the pasture. Never, ever say that there are no rocks, sticks, or anything because when you fall you will find the exception to that statement haha.

Other than having the horse persons little fat squashed toe on both feet, I've not had many horse related injuries, thankfully.

hmmm the by some miracle I've never had a serious injury tough I met a guy once who got a concussion by running into a tree branch. As for my funniest injury...hm..I was riding my bike and hit a weird spot and almost swerved into the street to avoid that I slammed on my brakes however I only managed to hit the front wheel brakes and since I was going pretty fast the momentum carried my back wheel up and took me with it! next thing I knew I was lying on the ground bike on top of me and winded trying to figure how on earth I'd manged to get myself into this position. I lay there a couple moment before I realized I was lying in someone's driveway and I should probably move...

My mom did something like that but with the freezer door. She was looking in the fridge for something while I was getting something from the freezer. She was crouched down so I said "don't stand up the freezer door is right above your head" she said "OK let me know if you close it before I'm done" not ten seconds later she finds what she needs and...stands up, FAST, hits the door and falls right back down.
