What do you all recommend. Links would be appreciated..

Thanks.
I shoe alot of horses and I prefet rim pads over full pads of any type. Rim pads leave the frog and sole open for picking out junk and allowing the sole to breath.. I have no problems with snowballing.

My horse has rim snow pads like shown in Rio's photo. They work great!

I dont like rim pads. My mare got a sole bruise from them. There was too much pressure on her sold, near the toe. She was almost dead lame. Im not sure if there are different kinds of rim pads. My farrier cut out the sole of a full pad and put that on.

Thanks for the replies.

That's what I was wondering how the snow pads would work if material can get underneath and you can't clean it out what would happen with the hoof?

I like the idea of the rim pads...

The horse I train, Little, Had rim pads. I like them a lot and they dont seem to trap anything underneath either.

My horse from a few years ago will, He had full snow pads and they ruined his hooves.
