Winter is coming & ill be getting my horse at my house soon .
Im a first time horse owner & I was wondering if I would need a sheet or a blanket to put on him after I work him. I live in Texas, it doesnt get as cold as some other places are, but the past few years its been pretty darn cold.
Im not planning on running him like crazy or anything, I was thinking just like twenty or thirty minutes a day just refreshing. Ive seen a couple of horses that just lay around the hay bale all winter, get all fattened up, &then are expected to know how to be a perfect riding horse again in the spring.
Hes going to be my trail horse but I dont want him lazy. Maybe just like walk for a little bit maybe trot some. I dont want him to get a chill & get sick.
I mean this might be a stupid question but I want to take whatever precautions needed.
