sorry if not in the best place for this post!

is it common for sorrel/chestnut horses to not have matchin tails? both of my sorrel horses have a light mane and a dark tail.it drives me crazy when my horses tails do not match!!! also do sorrels change colors? mine dont but do other peoples? sorry got my first 2 sorrels last year!!!

I do believe its normal for that color to have lighter manes/tails. I imagine you are referring to the flaxen color mane/tail? or just lighter shades of brown/red? Theres is such an array of shades in the sorrels and chestnuts so I think the tails go along with that as well.

The chestnut I had did not have a matching mane & tail. The mane looked bleached out while the tail tended to be darker. The shade of her coat also changed season to season. She would range from a dark liver chestnut to a bright red color w/ a flaxen mane.

k thnx!!! i have no experience with sorrels and i didnt know they came in so many colors!!! my mare has a flaxen mane with a very dark red tail and my gelding has a flaxen mane with a brownish golden tail.
