My horse and I have been riding on the road for a long time and he has always been fine. Today we went and he spooked at the leaves that have fallen off the tree. WHen a vehicle goes by the leaves sort of fly up in the air and he jumps. How do I help him?
You just have to work through it like any other spook and keep him calm and focused. Our youngest mare had a similar "quirk". You could ride all day through piles of dried leaves making all kinds of noise with no problem at all, but when riding on the asphalt road, if dried leaves were blowing across the road making a scraping sound, she would want to dance around them. Just had to keep moving her forward like they weren't there. Good luck, some of these quirks take time/experience to get over. Posted via Mobile Device
