I board my horse at a stable. I love the place, except that the horse next door to mine cribs constantly. He's tearing holes through the wood to my horses' stall, which I have to fix. Also, he kicks the stall door 24/7. It freaks Sterling out, and also leads to more holes that I have to patch up. I've been trying to contact the owner to say something, but so far haven't had much luck. I'm hoping to possibly move my horse to the other side of the barn, since it seems like even if I ask the owner to do something about it, they won't be able to help much. Maybe I should recommend those non-cribbing collars, or something.. Seems so drastic... Sorry for rambling.. Anyways, is there any way for me to stop the neighbor horses' habits, other than sorta yelling at it to stop? Thanks for your time:):D:lol::p:-o:wink:

Fitst of all, I sure wouldn't be fixing damage done by someone elses horse. About the only thing you can do is switch stalls

I know, but the holes were so annoying. *Sigh. Last I checked, the stall in the very back is still empty - I'm hoping to get a spot there.

I would move to a different stall. You really don't want your horse to decide cribbing looks like fun, nasty habit!
My guy was a dream while he was in his stall, but now he's stabled beside a mare who likes to chew on the wood in her stall, and my boy thought it was so much fun that he started to do it too!

Now that you mention it, Sterling has been kicking at his door a little bit lately. I'm gonna have to put a stop to THAT right away. Ahaha

If you can move to another stall, you should try.

With permission from the other horse's owner you could put some cribex along the wall - even suggest that the owner invest in some.

I don't see why your responsible for maintaining the condition of the stall? Surely that should be up to the barn owner?

Ooooh, cribex. That sounds like it would help:) I'm going up tomorrow again, as always, fingers crossed the other owner will be there:D
