Boo was covered April 16, 18, 20, 2022. Checked in foal May 6, 2022. So day 340 is March 26, 2023 and she's now 296 days in foal. In all the years I've had her, she's gone 340 days exactly and laid down and presented us with a lovely, healthy foal.

She's so big and has such a HUGE amount of room to carry her foal that she never really shows or looks pregnant until she starts getting pretty close to foaling. Tonight I noticed when I went out to feed and blanket that she's actually getting round in her belly and starting to show. At least, she is to ME. I think if you didn't know her, you probably wouldn't notice. I did notice that when I went to do up her belly band on her blanket that the straps don't wrap around as far as they usually do. I gave her belly a pat and told her, "Boo, you're amazing. You're about to foal out here, in a MINUTE and you're just barely starting to show!". She just kind of looked at me like, "Yeah and it's all your fault!". And went right back to hoovering up her dinner. Silly mare!

Track record of when she foaled in the past is hard to ignore....

Weather conditions though can play a bit of havoc in that though too....
Weather change and front coming through, the stronger the more apt she is to deliver during storm peak as you know...

Mother Nature and Boo seem to already have this understanding....

Since shes foaled so consistent on day 340....it will be day 340 of the day she caught, not introduced.....

Baby alert.... we're now all waiting, some getting impatient.

I bet you are checking every night already!
I'm just having a basic peek at her, nothing real invasive at this point. It's way too early. I just think it's funny that she's such an undercover broodmare. She really doesn't look pregnant until it's almost time to drop. And then, BOOM she's looking like an overloaded cargo ship, wallowing around, rolling from side to side as she walks and when she bags up she looks like she's expecting to feed a small country, not just a foal.

I threw in the different days because she's now 20 years old, and her life took a hard turn to the left the last couple of years, so don't know what effeft that will have on her, or if it will have any, so just kind of curious to see how this year goes. And, of course, this is a late baby for her, I generally go for the early mid-Feb babies and this one will be in Tornado season. So, a few different things going on this year for her.

Boo's at day 331 and she's built a pretty good sized bag and has a tiny bit of wax on her teats. Not looking imminent yet, if she was last night would have been a good one for her to go since we were out of town for hubby to have his gallbladder surgery and we didn't get back until 5 pm tonight. I was almost expecting a foal in her stall when we got back but she took pity and didn't foal while we were gone. WHEW! I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

She'll go when she's ready and not a moment before...
Having had before she knows when she shall pick the time and time of day and weather conditions to drop in in peace.
I'll guess she is days out...don't care what gender as long as all the parts are in proper place and healthy...all babies are beautiful as they enter the world and first days of being here.

As long as it's a healthy foal with all it's parts in the proper order and smart and sweet like mom & dad, I don't have any preference on anything else. It will be a palomino, no other choice there but other fill in the blanks can be whatever they will be. Healthy and happy and we're good to go.

I got a couple of pics tonight. She's starting to drop and her udder is getting BIIIIIG and she's got a little bit of wax on her teats. It'll be a few days yet but she's starting to get ready. I also saw a little brownish-clearish discharge so I'm thinking she's thinking of losing her wax plug.

Welp, the base was doing artillery practice and Boo decided that having her foal during the 1812 Overture complete with Cannons was a great time to have her foal. She laid down at 8:30 this morning and gave us a lovely little filly!

Naturally she rolled around and got her little blanket all dirty before I could get her picuture taken!
