Stock tie or no?

I have my first dressage test coming up (it’s not super competitive as it’s being held by my barn, you can either just wear your normal riding clothes or get completely dressed up, which I think is fun since I’m taking a clinic on show preparation for my pony)
I have no idea about stock ties/ ratcatchers etc
I’ve read that you can just use a stand up neck, some vilify it.
Do I need a stock tie? The shirt I have saved in my cart is a stand up neck (I’ll put a picture up)
I personally don’t like the look of stock ties, I feel it over complicates things and takes away from the actual rider
Many thanks!
Edit: might I mention it’s also the cheapest one, as life and horses are expensive, my entire planned outfit I waited for the mid year sale and now it’s all down 30-40% off and my jacket is $200 down to $60 😆
Anything I can’t get online (I like to try my joddys on before I buy as I like certain fits better) I’m getting in store on a Saturday (you get a carrot dip and, depending on which you pick, you get 5%, 10% or 25% off anything in store)
