My friends horse has been trying to pee all day but when she tries, little to none comes out. Should we be worried about this? She is a mare and it’s about 80 degrees out if that helps.

What is she doing to make you think shes struggling to pee? Is she doing this around other horses?

More then likely shes in heat. But call your Vet if this is concerning you.

There was just a thread on this very thing a few days ago. Evidently you folks have just bought your mares and have never been around them before. I mark on the calender every month mine comes in just to make sure she stays regular. The symtoms are unmistakeable.

Sure was. There may have been a third or fourth as I've responded to a couple recently and I had none on the most recent.

Your mare is in heat. Other signs could be lifting the tail, squatting, vulva winking, strong smell, backing her rump up to anything, irtitability...

most likely in heat, but there is a chance she could be dehydrated or have a UTI. Look for signs of any of those.
