Okay so I have a 9yr. old mare she is 15.3 hands and I and a trainer is training her she already feisty so when she goes into heat you could only imagine what she is like. I would like the following question answered plz: Does it do anything to a mare that would help them not go into heat or let it be "lighter" to put a copper pipe in her water bucket?????

What helped my mare was a serious change in diet. No sweet feed, no pelleted feed, no grain, and free choice grass hay. I feed her a mixture of alfalfa pellets, flax, and a vitamin supplement. I add in extra magnesium and b-vitamins to help with her "mareness." Not only is she less fiesty in general, but her heats are more managable too.

You can have horsetech.com custom blend you a vit/min mix in their flax base, with added magnesium. They don't charge for the custom work and shipping is free.
