My horse is around 23 years old. I rescued him from an abandoned strip job where he was nearly starved and wouldn't make it through winter. I noticed his feet, which didn't change my mind about rescuing him, were bowed pretty badly, so I googled a lot of stuff. His suspensory ligament is either torn or stretched and his fetlock joint almost hits the ground. He walks fine, and trots occasionally but he cannot bear weight which makes it hard for him to gain like he should. He's old so I would like to go around surgery, but is there anyone who has dealt with this and knows what to do? Vets around my area don't deal much with horses besides Lexington.

Waw that's a tough one. I would be getting a vet out to see what they advise for you to do, and go from there.

I'd also have a good barefoot trimmer take a look, he needs some heel to hold those Pasterns some poor guy.
Definitely need a good vet.
