I have worked around horses almost all my life, but this is my first time owning one for myself so naturally I have a lot of questions about stuff I never really had to think about before. I am going to be boarding her at a public barn with 50 other horses soon and they have a few tack rooms spaced between stalls for the boarders to use, But being that so many other people are in and out....some volunteers......some staff....ect its not uncommon for private boarders tack to get mixed in with what what the volunteers and public use and before you know it your tack is lost or stolen. So I have been looking around for a tack box big enough to hold my western saddle without damaging it and small enough not to hog the whole tack room for myself. So far I haven't found a whole lot (thats not outrageously expensive) I was wondering if anyone had ideas on what i could lock my saddle in to protect it thats not to big and not to small. Doesn't have to be made for tack, Just any kind of storage idea would be helpful! Thank you guys so much, you have all been so friendly so far. I hope at least someone understands what I'm asking haha

I understand your problem.. i hate it when all your brushes and stuff gets mixed up. I really hate it when you have a light colored horse and someone uses your brush for a dark colored horse and the other way around. Bugs the crap out of me coz when you go to brush your horse they are suddenly caped with light/dark hair. Then you have double to job haha.
Why dont you get a little tote to store your saddle in.. and you can get lockable tack boxes. Then you can store them on top of each other and keep your space neat and clean. But safe too.
Prices can vary but they are generally pretty cheap.
Something pretty much like below.. Will keep your tack clean and dry. Plus you can get them in different sizes.

Hope this helped some. Also you can decorate it and put yours and your horses name on it so that people know that its yours.

If you're handy or know someone who is, you could always make your own basic box with a lockable lid.
Paint it sparkly colours

I would recomend you just make your own box that way you can customize it to your needs and it will be more affordible

You can always use an old cupboard/Nightstand/.. and just put a chain with a lock on it!
In Belgium, many people used that to make their own tack box!

There are locking saddle racks, if you're allowed to put something up on the wall. That way your saddle is out, but no one can use it unless they unscrew it out of the wall, lol.

One really good option is to go to your local general home reno store and get yourself a Tough box. It's a tool trunk that locks that will last you forever. Looks like the link below but in much larger. Big enough you could fit a saddle. Full size of a trunck and it locks. I used one of those for years before getting my first tack box.
