My parents have one and they HATE it! It's very uncomfortable and when it gets cold it's like a chunk of concrete! I know lots of people really like them but they've had theres several years and can't stand the thing.
My boyfriend and I recently bought a new bed, and we tried several different Temerpedic Memory foam Mattress's and we did not like ANY of them. They are super stiff, and just arent comfy. On most of them it took a lot of pressure/weight to even get it to make an impression.
It was expensive. We bought the pillows as well (for like $150 a piece). My husband loves the pillow. My son and I HATE them. The bed part is ok I geuss. I don't have a ton of complaints but I think I would have been happier with a downed pillow top.....
6 yrs ago I bought a pillowtop mattress (pillowtop on both sides of the mattress) I think it cost us around $2500. Today it's worthless. It sags in the middle of the mattress (it's a queen). The pillowtop is all pushed in on all sides of the bed. It's so uncomfortable that about 90% of the time I wake up with a aching back. (like a knife is being plunged into my lower back.) I am tired of hurting ALL the time.
My cousin has a temperpedic so that's why I've been considering one. Both her and her boyfriend love it.
Anyone else with experience with the temperpedic. Ps. This is the one we were looking at getting!
my pillow top is saggy and poopy also. that's why we bought the tempurpedic mattress top to try it out. It's $300. We will probably buy the actually mattress once we have the money. I do still hate the pillow.
You have to do a bit of research to make sure you get the right one for you. They have different elasticity levels, a lot of stores will have "sales" where they sell them off, but they are actually only saling the "hard" ones. Do the research first, make sure you are aware of the level of softness vs support you require before you buy one - don't get them blind.
That being said, my biggest complaint about them is I found it incredibly hot. I know a lot of people on here are complaining about coldness, I had the opposite problem, and I'm one of those people that is always cold! The material in the mattress doesn't breathe as well as a normal fabric matress, and laying in one place all night I would get really hot and sweaty (and I never sweat in my sleep.) I was waking up more every night having to move to find a cooler spot on the mattress. Most stores that sell the mattresses can also sell you covers that wick away the moisture, get that, but also get a traditional thick pillowed mattress pad on top of it to get some air flow between you and the surface of the mattress.
About 6 months ago we got a bedinabox.com mattress. It is heaven!!! It is made in the USA, was awesome delivery, came in a box, easy to take upstairs and was ready to use within hours. We just got the basic queen mattress as we read reviews of people putting "pillow topppers" on foam mattresses and you loose the whole effect. It does get warmer than a regular spring mattress, but both of our bodies adjusted perfectly in about a week.
Definitely do you research and try some out. I understand that they aren't for everyone as yes they do seem hard but there are different levels of foam/hardness.
Anyone would think I works for these people haha, but I don't! I just love the bed. And the best thing? The prices!!!! I think we paid just under $500 for the queen. I think it has gone up in price a little since we bought ours on sale.
I have to check which one I have. I have a 2,ooo mattress that we bought because of my hip problem. I could never sleep in anything but that mattress. I will check what the brand of it is, but it is along the lines of the orthopedic bed. It's absolutely incredible. Well worth the money.
