The Pony Chronicles: My journey with Archie

Finally, the rain has ended!!! Schooled Archie at the W/T, still to muddy for cantering. Ran through some preliminary W/T tests. He has a new fluffy (and EXPENSIVE) girth to hopefully make tightening the girth a little more comfortable for him. He is still an old man and has tension issues, but I think the fluffiness helped. He'll still get massages and stuff for tension relief though. Overall, he was much more forward and willing and go a really nice trot for me. He's hard, but it's days like this that remind how much I love this horse. M and C schooled with us too. Have a show next week and clinic after that, and this is our first time riding since early Feb 😬.

Anyways, this is my first member journal so you probably have no idea what I'm talking about lol

Backstory, Archie is a rescue pony. He was skinny and had to fight for his food. His beautiful chestnut coat had white patches from years of ill fitting saddles rubbing against him. He's now around the 20 mark and has found a forever home at my barn. Grumpy old man, but we all know at the end of the day endless love and yummy treats are what he lives for (;
I'm an amateur and Archie's spicy sometimes, living up to his show name "Hot Tamale". We've had some adventures, and he's my best friend now and always!

❤Everyone is still trying to move past the loss of our sweet mare and the OG, dutchess. She taught so many kids not only how to ride but also love, patience, and forgiveness. At 37, she crossed the rainbow bride. Sweet Dutch is forever in our hearts. Love you baby girl ❤

So glad Archie is with you now. I love his show name, that's very cute!

I'm sick of the mud where I live. It's pretty bad.

What discipline do you participate in?

Looking forward to your entries!

Brilliant! Dressage can really build muscle and flexibility in a horse, makes for a well rounded athlete! Trail competitions sound like loads of fun!
