Okay so in the past snow storm we got like 20 inches of snow. Its really pretty but i'm so sick of the cold weather and snow. This means i can't go out and ride and get started on english. I just want to be out there doing stuff with my horse so much. Even if it would just be practicing halter/showmanship itd be an improvement. But with so much snow and cold temps. there is no way i can go out and ride daisey at a walk let alone a trot(which is what i need because i need to get comfortable at a trot and then move to posting and what not). Tomorrow morning it is supposed to be 10 degrees and only get like 26. I will be SO glad when spring comes and i can get out there and ride and i'm hoping to improve. I am excited to learn and be able to ride in the shows this summer. I also want to be driving her as well but with like 2 feet of snow and possibly 10 more inches coming i don't think that'll happen. : / SPRING WHERE ARE YOU!!!???:-x:-|

I hear you on this Draftgirl! I feel your pain. I'm in MD and we had like 30 inches. We are also expected to get another 12-20 this Tuesday and Wednesday. It's also supposed to snow on Monday. AAAAAAHhhh!!!

don't get me wrong, I HATE summer and any kind of weather remotely warm... but this winter is driving me nuts! Not only have I not gotten to ride as much as I'd like, my living depends on my riding and teaching. Which means Jan and Feb have made my bank account a little slim. While my waist line is not. I have a tendency to eat when I'm bored. It's amazing I can fit into my breeches at all.

I'm right there with you. I am so tired of the cold, the snow, and the ice. I'm tired of shoveling snow. I am so ready for spring and riding. I am litterly daydreaming and wishing I could ride. I'm from the south and being up north is hard. Going from 10 months of summer and 2 months of winter to 10 months of winter and two months of summer is VERY hard even after 8 years.

Omg jaded... I am right here with you!!!

Our shallowest spot of snow (that has not been plowed) is like a foot of snow but our average is two feet and we have five foot drifts and a mountain range at least 8 feet high.

We kept five of our horses in for two nights and a whole day and they were running through the snow, they were so happy! (You can see pics at notanothermonday.deviantart.com)

My mom and sister got to ride through the snow yesterday, through our corn fields since our arena and all of our jumps are buried under too much snow. I would have ridden, but my two horses are in a different field and the gate is snowed in so I have to climb the gate just to feed my poor guys.

And I am NOT looking forward to the other foot of snow we're supposed to get tonight. That'll just push my training with Frazier back that much more (I plan on showing 2'6" this summer, a record for me) and we're already behind to a point where we're not even schooling at 2'6" yet... Argh!

So yeah. I used your rant to rant. Thanks

Its okay we're all feeling the pain of this snowy weather! I really regret not riding much this past summer due to kind of being afraid. Now all i want to do is get out there and ride. I really want to be riding either saddleseat or huntseat with my haffie this summer (and on a family friends percheron but i actually have to know how to ride english before i do that lol) and it just irritates me i cant go out there and even do anything!!! When the sunny days come back i think everyone will be happier. However when all this snow melts that'll be a different thing.. can anyone say MUD?

Well, the only good thing is that you can't see all the mud now. It looks so clean and pretty. You can walk out into the fields without getting your boot sucked off in a freaking foot of slooshing mud. I swear the mud at my barn is evil, it makes this weird belching burping noise as if to say, "If you fall down, your soul will be MINE!!!!" It also laughes at me when my boot gets stuck and I'm hanging onto the fence trying to pull it out.

I hate winter and snow too. It's too cold for me to do anything. That's not even mentioning all the mud. I hate mud.
