Hey everyone!
The horse I leased over the summer, Chance, bucks whenever he canters with another horse in the ring. What can I do? Most of the time I come off because he either stops and bucks or swerves to join the other horse in the ring.

He is a 16.2 hh Thoroughbred gelding. Was trained to race but never did since he was to slow and to stocky. He was in a Kimberwick when I first started riding, but I switched him to an eggbutt snaffle. He bucks in the Kimber, but not as often.

He was a rescue(thats what the farm i work at/ board sonya does. They rescue TB's), and was bought by a girl who took lessons on him. He was perfectly trained untils he bought him. She would let him roll with her, and would canter and jump him for 45 mins straight without a warmup or cooldown.

He also wont trailer, but I am working on that, so far we have made it to one show, but it took almost an hour to get in the trailer for the ride home.

Any advice would be greatly appreicated. Ask any question if that would help you think of how to fix him.

I'd switch him back to the Kimberwick as it sounds like he's happier in that.
What do you do once he's bucked? Is there any way of predicting when he's going to buck e.g putting his head between his legs?

Usually the buck happens so quick, there is no way to predict it. After I get back on if I fall off, I ask the other rider to walk around, and I put him through walk trot canter. After that first buck, he is alot more obvious when he is going to buck, like pulling on the reins, speeding up, and putting his head between his legs. It's just that first one. And he doesn't do it at the same time every ride. Sometimes its the beginning, or middle, or end, or he doesn't even buck.

Keep his head up, if it seems like it's going down then kick him on. If he seems like he's going to buck change direction, do a circle, do somethin that he has to think about other than bucking.
What's the rest of the ride like i.e his trot?

Ok, I will try to keep his head up whenever it feels like he is pulling, and the rest you were saying. The rest of the ride is perfect. His trot is amazing. So smooth, and doesn't need very much encouragement to get into the trot. He transitions well from trot to walk, and when he doesn't buck, canter to trot.

I hope it works, it worked for me when the pony I rode started bucking.
I'm glad the rest of it is good as it means only one little problem to go before you have a really good horse.
