Do you guys give your horses time off after deworming?

No.

If you the horse is UTD on routine farrier, dental and health related needs, unless the farrier or vet advise differently - I see no reason to not treat them as I would any other day.

That's what I was thinking too.
Then I was just reading about it on a website, some give only a day off some give a few off depending on how bad infestation. Also giving amost a week off after getting their shots? I have had horses be a little sore or lathargic the next day but not a week. I don't remember having horses not feeling good after dewormimg either. So I was just curious on others thoughts and experiences on this....

Our mares are back to work right after worming or shots. None of it seems to bother them in the least.

Yeah we've never given ours time off, but we've also never had any adverse reactions and never noticed any sluggishness. Ours are all dewormed and vaccinated on schedule, every year/every 3 months. If I was giving a new vaccination, I'd probably give them 24 hours just to ensure no reactions.

Nope, I don't give my mare any time off after worming. However, with vaccinations (spring shots/fall shots) when there are several given at a time I have noticed she gets kinda sleepy so I don't really work her that same day, I'll wait until the next day.

For vaccinations, my vet just says don't take them out and work them hard that same day. So I never ride the same day just to be safe.

I will usually do the same for deworming, just deworm on a day I don't plan to ride anyway.

Ok cool, I thought maybe I was missing something by not giving them time off...
