When I got Mellow, he had a Mohawk. I've been trying to get his mane to grow out, but he stuck his head through the fence several times and shredded a big section of his mane. I tried to even things out, but he still looks tacky. What should a do?

I'd like him to have a long mane, but he looked kinda cute with it short (you can see pictures on his page).

Oh I love the little mohawk he had going! I would shave it off so it grows in more evenly and it will be a bit spikier. By summer it should be grown out!

BTW I think he is really cute and I like his confo! I would love to see his movement.

This is a REALLY old video from when I first got him (about 9 months ago). I still had baby weight on me (my son was born the weekend we got Mellow), I had never had an English lesson, and we didn't have a lot of space to work with.

What really struck me about him was his trot.

I really like his walk and his trot! He tracks up easily and looks like he would make a great little Equitation mount or dressage or maybe even eventing! Have you been getting any english lessons now?

Oh yes! I had my first lesson a few weeks ago, and it was great! I was terribly sore the next day. I plan on taking more, but even with the lesson farm being right down the street from me (I actually rode over there that day), it's next to impossible to get a morning off with a 10 month old. Once I get myself trained, I want to find someone to give Mellow some lessons.

And I buzzed off his mane. It looks SO much better just being one length. From a distance you can't even tell that it's gone.

I'm all for hogging manes. I'm doing that to my riding gelding and my mini gelding as soon as the snow melts this spring!
