In my life I have been lucky enough to have only ever owned 4 horses - meaning that each and everyone of them have stayed until the end.

Margo was a 13.2hh appaloosa mare with practically every breed of horse in her. She was rescued, along with her mother, from the meat man when she was just 2 days old. And then went on to be sold to my mother when she was 2 years old and my mother was 11.
My mum did everything with Margo, she backed her herself and trained her throughout her life.
Margo was the first pony I ever sat on and I even learned to ride on her at just 3 years old. She was an amazing pony.
When Margo was 5 years old my mother bought a new pony names Tartan. He was a 12:3hh Dartmoor X Exmoor dark bay gelding and was 15 years old.
Margo and Tartan became inseperable and grew old together. They were my show ponies, my pets and my friends.
On 6th January 2006 my mother and I made the painful decision that Margo should be put down after being diagnosed with heart failure just a few days earlier. She was not herself and had lot that spark in her eye that made her the special pony that she was. She was 29 years old and I stayed with her as the vet injected her. At the time I was 13 and I was sad to see her go, but knelt down on the floor holding her head and stroking her nose as she took her lasts breaths I felt a smile come across my face as I remembered all the memories I had with her.

We dreaded how this would affect Tartan. But he pootled on.
Sadly on the 8th January 2007 Tartan was put down. Just a year and 2 days after Margo. I got a call from school to say he had collapsed. The vet came and said that his liver was failing and it would be for the best to let him go. Again I felt a smile appear through the tears as I would think of all the memories we had toegther, but not only that... now he was being reunited with Margo in heaven. He was 40 years old.

I know it was 4 years ago when this happened but I just wanted to tell you all about them because if it wasn't for having 2 wonderful poines when I was younger, I would never have been interested in horses.
