This summer we explored the most beautiful part of the Caucasus - Svanetia - on horseback and wanted to share our impressions:
As the roads are quite bad there, horse tours are probably one of the best options. You may hire a local guide but to our surprise, it was also possible to hire only the horses without any guide and explore on your own. Small local horses are perfect for the mountains and they are well trained. Our only criticism is the saddles: they consist of a metal carcass and a thin cushion
For more detailed description and more pictures you may check our travel blog :gallop:
We also wrote about horseback rides in Cappadocia on Arabian racehorses and our riding experience in Croatia. A detailed report on horseback tours in Ethiopia, South Africa and Brazil are soon to come
